Keeping quiet is a peace poem written by the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda. The poet asks humanity to count numbers from one to twelve-twelve being the number of hours shown in a clock or the number of Zodiac signs. He requests everyone not to speak because language creat barriers between people.

Keeping quiet summary, summary discusses peace humanity and brotherhood. The poem is explosive as well as quiet at the same time. Neruda speaks of a world of wisdom in a calm fashion. Neruda believes that staunch activism is not the best way to get into the heart and minds of the masses.

Consequently, the author speaks with much serenity. Furthermore, this serenity creates an altermath of thought ripples in the minds of the reader. This poem emphasizes the importance of self introspection and silence. Furthermore, these two can transform the life of an individual and other things.

Moreover, they can also transform the face of the earth. The poets says that self-introspection and silence do not take much time to look within. The poet clarifies that his wish should not mean "Total inactivity". The poet only desires to interrupt the violent, cruel and sad activities taking place all.

All over the world for a few moments and let individuals introspection their actions. In fact, there is a connection to what he says with life rather than death. The poet makes use of the image of the earth to explain how life exists in things that seem dormant. In winter, the earth becomes very silent and it seems to be dead.

The earth becomes lively again in spring. Furthermore, in spring, the addition of fresh new beauties and colours takes place. In a similar fashion, man can resume his activities in a better manner after a little silence and quietness.

आगे कवि कहता है कि लोगों को मौत की धमकी दी जाती है और डर उन्हें अंतहीन काम करने के लिए मजबूर करता है ताकि वे सब कुछ जल्दी से हासिल कर सकें | इस पागल भीड़ में, उन्हें अपने कृत्यों के पुनर्खरीद का एहसास नहीं होता है | वह चाहता है कि हम रुकें और पागल भीड़ से बाहर आएं | वह चाहता है कि हम अपनी उपलब्धियों के बारे में खुश रहें और उन्हें मनाएं | वह चाहता है कि हम मौत के डर को दूर करें और थोड़ी देर के लिए आराम करें और अपने आप को सदैव खुश रखें |
