✍️ Answer. The Job of the firm where Mahendra was a junior supervisor was to offer on hire supervisors at various types of construction sites : factories, bridges, dams and so on.

✍️ Answer. Mahendra could adjust himself to all kinds of odd conditions, for his needs were simple. He could adjust himself to an ill-equipped circuit house and to a makeshift canvas tent in the middle of a stone quarry as well.

✍️ Answer. Iswaran was Mahendra's cook. Besides cooking for Mahendra he washed his clothes, chatted with Mahendra at night, and told him stories.

✍️ Answer. Breaking through the brick wall, the elephant entered the school ground.

✍️ Answer. Grabbing a cane, Iswaran ran down the stairs and into the open. The elephant lifted its trunk and trumpted loudly. Iswaran moved forward and with all his force hit it on its third toenail. It shivered from head to foot and collapsed.

✍️ Answer. He said that the ghost of a woman appreared off and on at midnight during the full moon. He described it as an ugly creature with matted hair and a shrivelled face. It looked like a skeleton holding a foetus in its arms.

✍️ Answer. Every night Mahendra peered into the darkness through the window next to his bed. He tried to make sure that there was no movement of dark shapes in the neighbourhood.
