👉 There are mainly five types of verb.

1. Main verb - प्रधान क्रिया.

2. Helping verb - सहायक क्रिया.

3. Transitive verb - सकर्मक क्रिया.

4. Intransitive verb - अकर्मक क्रिया.

5. Linking verb - संयोजक क्रिया.

1. Main verb - प्रधान क्रिया.

The verbs used alone or together with helping verbs are called main verbs.

जो क्रिया किसी वाक्य में अकेले या सहायक क्रिया के साथ आती है, वह Main verb कहलाती है |

✓ Example.

(i) I am reading.

(ii) I love her.

2. Helping verb - सहायक क्रिया.

A helping verb is one which helps the main verb to form a tense, voice, mood etc.

जो क्रिया Tense, voice, Mood इत्यादि के निर्माण में प्रधान क्रिया की सहायता करती है वह सहायक क्रिया कहलाती है |

✓ Example.

(i) My brother has come.

(ii) You should do this.

3. Transitive verb - सकर्मक क्रिया.

The verb used with an object is called a transitive verb.

जिस क्रिया के बाद कर्म (Object) का प्रयोग हुआ होता है उस क्रिया को Transitive verb कहते हैं |

✓ Example.

(i) I love you.

(ii) I know this.

4. Intransitive verb - अकर्मक क्रिया.

The verb used without an object is called an intransitive verb.

जिस क्रिया के बाद कर्म (Object) का प्रयोग नहीं हुआ होता है उस क्रिया को Intransitive verb कहते हैं |

✓ Example.

(i) I sleep.

(ii) He runs.

5. Linking verb - संयोजक क्रिया.

Linking verbs are used to connect the subject of a sentence with a noun, pronoun or adjective, etc.

Linking verb का प्रयोग वाक्य के Subject को संज्ञा, सर्वनाम या विशेषण से जोड़ने के लिए किया जाता है |

✓ Example.

(i) I am a doctor.

(ii) She seems very happy.
