✍️ Answer. An Interview is a professional communication between two or sometimes more participants to convey the information. In this process, the interviewer asks various questions to the interviewee, interviewees and gets answers for public.

✍️ Answer. Umberto Eco was an Italian novelist. He was famed as a philosopher, medievalist and semiotician also. He was born on 5 January 1932 and died on 19 February 2016. He used to write literary fiction, academic texts, children's books and newspapers article also.

✍️ Answer. Umberto Eco's fields of works were very wide. He was a writer and a famous novelist. He was a professor at the University of Bologna in Italy. Before writing fiction, he had been famous as a scholar for his ideas on semiotics, literary interpretation and medieval aesthetics.

✍️ Answer. At the Interview, Umberto Eco told a secret to the interviewer Mukund Padmanabhan. He told that if we eliminate the empty spaces from the universe, eliminate the empty spaces in all the atoms, the universe will become big as his fist. Similarly, we've a lot of empty spaces in our lives. According to Eco, it (that empty space) was called interstice.

✍️ Answer. Mukund padmanabhan was an editor from 'The Hindu' and the interviewer of Umberto Eco. Mukund asked Umberto Eco about his departure from a regular academic style if he had consciously adopted in informal approach or if it was something that just had come naturally to him.

✍️ Answer. Roland Barthes was a French literary theorist, essayist, philosopher, critic and semiotician. He was born on 12 Nevember 1915 and died on 26 March, 1980. He was frustrated because he was an essayist and not a novelist. He (Roland) wanted to do creative writing one day he died before he could do so.

✍️ Answer. Umberto Eco identified himself with the academic community. He considered himself a university professor. He participated in academic conferences but not in meetings of pen clubs and writers. It was so because through novels he could reach a larger audience which he couldn't expect from semiotics.

'द नेम ऑफ द रोज' क्या था ? 

✍️ Answer. 'The name of the Rose' was a novel written by 'Umberto Eco'. It was a serious novel. It was a detective yarn at one level but also delved into metophysic, theology, and medieval history. 'The name of the Rose' sold between 10 and 15 million copies.

✍️ Answer. The success of 'The name of the Rose' could be counted by its grand sale reached to 10 to 15 million of copies worldwide. The publisher was not expecting the sale of more than 3000 copies in a country where nobody had seen a cathedral or studied Latin but in the end it sold two or three million in the U.S. only. Thus, it was an unexpected success.

In the context of the text and as per the usual consideration, an interview has different aspects and understanding from the point.

Celebrities see themselves as their (Interviewers) victims, they take interview as an unwarranted intrusion into their lives, they feel that interviews somehow diminish them, V. S. Naipaul, feels that some people are wounded by interviewers.

👉 Question (3) What is 'Interstices' ? How does Umberto Eco explain it ? 

'इंटरस्टाइसेस' क्या है ? अंबर्टो इको इसकी कैसे व्याख्या करते हैं ? 

✍️ Answer. 'Interstices' is a term used given by famous novelist 'Umberto Eco'. He defines interstices as empty spaces. According to Eco, we have a lot of empty spaces in our lines which he calls Interstices. He gives example : suppose somebody is coming to his place, the person is in an elevator.

Thus, Umberto Eco describes 'Interstices'. According to the Oxford dictionary an Interstices is a small break or space in something. He works in empty spaces. While waiting for his elevator to come up from the first to the third floor.
