👉 Question (1) How can you say that the conductor was a good-natured jolly fellow ?

आप किस प्रकार कह सकते हैं कि कंडक्टर एक अच्छे स्वभाव का खुश-मिजाज ( हंसमुख) व्यक्ति था ? 

✍️ Answer. The Conductor was a fun loving, jolly fellow, for example when Valli refused his help to board the bus he said jokingly, " Don't be angry with me, fine madam. Everyone move aside please-make way for madam".

अपनी पहली बस यात्रा के लिए वल्ली ने क्या जानकारी एकत्रित की ?

✍️ Answer. Valli collected all the minute details about the bus journey. She gathered that she required sixty paise to buy tickets for the up and down journey and that the bus would take ninety minutes from village to town and back. She carefully listened to the conversations of the passengers and villagers to get the details.

✍️ Answer. On her return journey, Valli saw a dead cow lying in the middle of the road. It was lying sprawled in a pool of blood legs spread out, lifeless eyes-staring a horrible scene which made Valli sad.

वल्ली का मनपसंद पासटाइम क्या था ?

✍️ Answer. Valli's favourite passtime was to stand in the front doorway of her house. She did not play like most of other children as there were no playmates of her age on her street. Watching the street also gave her many unusual experiences which were equally enjoyable.

वल्ली किस प्रकार की व्यक्ति थी ? 

✍️ Answer. Valli was a curious keen observer who had strong will-power and determination she was bold, brave and self respective. She had immanse self confidence and wanted to do everything on her own. She was innocent, highly sensitive, intelligent and was a very careful planner.

👉 Question (6) Why did Valli want to ride on the bus ?

वल्ली बस यात्रा क्यों करना चाहती थी ?

✍️ Answer.  Valli used to watch the bus on its hourly rounds through her street everyday. The sight of the bus filled with new passengers everytime gave her unending joy, she was curious and wished to ride it once. So, she wanted to ride on the bus to enjoy it.

✍️ Answer. She got into the bus and looked at everything very carefully when she looked outside she found her view cut off by the canvas blind that covered the lower part of her window. So, she stood upon the seat and peered over the blind.

👉 Question (8) What did Valli see out of the window on her first journey ?

अपनी पहली यात्रा में वल्ली ने बस की खिड़की से क्या देखा ? 

✍️ Answer. Valli saw the green bank of a canal with the palm trees and mountains in the background and the blue sky. On the other sides, she saw a deep ditch and green fields. She saw other vehicles, a young cow running in front of the bus, she later saw it dead.

👉 Question (9) How did Valli arrange for her bus fare ?

अपने बस का किराया वल्ली ने कैसे उपलब्ध कराया ?

✍️ Answer. For her first journey outside the village, Valli needed sixty paise to the two way fare of the bus. She needed some knowledge and ample time. She saved money herself, collected the information from the passenger and utilised the time of her mother's nap for it.

कंडक्टर वल्ली को ' मैडम' क्यों कहता है ? 

✍️ Answer. The conductor was a jolly sort of fellow. He was much fond of joking. He had judged temperament of this small child. It was only to please her, he called her Valli 'madam'.

👉 Question (1) In which manner did Valli calculate, plan and prepare herself for the ride on the bus ?

वल्ली ने किस प्रकार अपनी बस यात्रा के लिए गणना की, योजना बनाई और अपने आपको तैयार किया ? 

✍️ Answer. Valli had made careful, painstaking and elaborate plans for her visit to the city. She had saved every coin she could. She overcame the temptation to buy peppermints, toys, balloons. Finally she had saved a total of sixty paise. She suppressed her strong desire to ride on the merry-go-round at the village fair at that moment.

But she managed this without much difficulty after lunch her mother would take a nap from about, one to four or so. She would visit the city during this period.

👉 Question (2) Compare Valli's journey to the city with her journey back home. Why was there a change in her mood ?

वल्ली की शहर की ओर यात्रा और वापस गांव की यात्रा की तुलना करें | उसकी मनोदशा में अंतर क्यों था ? 

✍️ Answer. Valli's journey to the city is also her introduction into the mystery of life and death. While on her way to the city, Valli saw a cow running very fast in the middle of the road, right in front of the bus. Valli enjoyed the scene. She kept on laughing initially and her eyes were filled with tears.

She saw life in the form of a small cow. This is what life gives us- happiness, enjoyment. She realised how death can change the things. So she really did not enjoy her remaining journey.

वल्ली की अत्यंत गहरी इच्छा क्या थी ? इस कहानी में उन शब्दों और शब्दांशों को चुनें जो तुम्हें यह बताते हों | 

✍️ Answer. It was the deepest desire of Valli to enjoy a bus ride. There ran a bus between her village and the nearest town. She was able to fulfil her desire. The following words and phrases tell us about this.

This fascinating things the sight of the bus, a source of unending joy. A tiny wish crept into her head overwhelming, desire listening carefully discreet questions and stop the bus etc...

 

👉 Question (4) Do you think Valli enjoyed her first bus ride ? Give examples from the lesson to support your answer ?

✍️ Answer. It was Valli's first bus ride. Naturally she was full of excitement and enthusiasm. She devoured everything with her eyes. She stood up on the seat, to have a full view of things outside. The bus was going along the bank of a canal beyond it, there were palms, grasslands, and distant mountains and on the other side there was a deep ditch.

The bus went past the Railway station the bright looking shops and glittering displays of clothes and other merchandise in them suddenly, Valli clapped her hands with glee. This was very funny to Valli and she laughed and laughed until there were tears in her eyes.

👉 Question ( 5) Valli sternly refused the conductor's offer of a cold drink though she might be willing to have one ? What lesson do you learn from her gesture ? 

वल्ली ने सख्ती से कंडक्टर के द्वारा शीतल पेय देने पर मना कर दिया यद्यपि वह पीना चाहती थी | आप उसके इस हाव -भाव से क्या समझते हैं ? 

✍️ Answer. By the end of the journey, the conductor had got quite fond of Valli. When the bus reached its destination the conductor went to the nearby stall to have something to drink. He offered to bring one for Valli as a treat from him but Valli refused sternly.

Such a conduct from an eight years old girl shows her good upbringing. We learnt not to be greedy and live within our means. It is a always wise to spend money judiciously children must not waste their pocket money on unwanted items.
